Dash of Adventure Reprise
Hello again! I realize it’s been quite some time…nearly a year since I last posted, and A LOT has happened!
We survived a pandemic! This year was all about survival mode and a lot of the extras in my life took a back seat, including this blog. We had a 5 month stretch without any childcare, while both working full time and living in a 900 square foot apartment in downtown Chicago. Things were tight and stressful to say the least. BUT all three of us made it through without contracting Covid-19 and now are fully vaccinated. We hope that our daughter will be able to be too by the end of the year (fingers crossed).
We moved across the country! Yep, that’s right. We’re the crazies with the two-year-old that packed up everything into a UHaul and moved from Chicago to beautiful Denver, Colorado. Moving here has been a dream of ours for many years, but the timing had never been right until we were both able to work remotely indefinitely and our landlord sold our apartment. We knew it was time to take the leap. I hope to put together a blog post at some point to help those of you who may be considering moving states with young children. It wasn’t easy, but it has been 100% worth it. We are so much closer to some of our best friends and now closer to where my parents plan on settling permanently on the west coast.
I lost my job…and started my own company! Being laid off is never easy, but it provided an opportunity to start my own PR and communications consulting LLC, something I’ve been considering since my daughter was born. I dreamed of having a job where I could create my own hours, spend more time with my daughter and choose the clients I work with. I am forever grateful to my husband who encouraged me to give this a shot and see what I could make of it. I’m proud to say that with a little luck, some good networking and relationships and a lot of hard work that I’ve been able to make it happen.
I hope to use this blog as a platform to document our new adventures out west, provide encouragement for other families to get their kids outside no matter where they live and of course continue to share my cooking adventures.
